Dr. Abdulrahman Ajidagba, the Chairman of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission, has said the commission has recruited about 3, 000 Ad-hoc staff for the November 18 local government election in the state.
Ajidagba, who disclosed this on Wednesday during an interview with newsmen in Ilorin, said the ad-hoc staff was unemployed youths who would be engaged for the exercise instead of the corps members.
He also said that the Commission was ready, determined and prepared to conduct a free and credible local government.
The Chairman said the Commission has a smooth synergy with the various security operatives.
He added that all the political parties participating in the election had signed an accord to maintain peace during and after the election.
Ajidagba warned that any staff of the Commission or any of the ad-hoc staff found wanting would be severely dealt with.
The chairman appealed to the electorate and stakeholders of the various political parties to eschew violence before, during and after the election.
He assured that the Commission would ensure fairness and cautioned youths against being used as political thugs.
