Barely 24 hours after being sworn in as the Caretaker Committee Chairman for Jos East Local Government Area, Hon. Hosea Azi, has been brutally killed along with four of his suspected abductors.
Azi and four of the kidnappers were said to have been involved in a ghastly motor accident around Keffi in Nasarawa State.
The car in which they were travelling was damaged beyond repairs.
Azi was kidnapped by unknown gunmen at his residence in Jos South Local Government Area after leaving office.
His car was later abandoned at Rantya State Low Cost.
The Eagle Online learnt that Azi, who was appointed and sworn-in on Friday by the Plateau State Governor, Barrister Simon Lalong, in recognition of his contributions to the victory of the All Progressives Congress in Plateau State in the last general election.
The appointment came as a result of security reports leading to replacement of the former Interim Management Committee Chairman, Hon. Sanda Agwom, who was alleged to have failed to demonstrate continuous respect for the yearning of the people in line with the people-centered approach to governance in the state.
Azi’s remains has been deposited at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital at about 10am on Saturday.
The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the development in a telephone interview through its spokesman, DSP Abuh Emmanuel, who advised the general public to be careful and report any suspected movement to the nearest station for quick rescue.
