The incessant sexual harassment in Nigerian institutions has reached the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State as a lecturer from the Department of Geology, Omananyi Yunusa Adinoyi, was over the weekend dismissed after investigations.
The alleged sexual harassment was against a female student in the department who offers a course taken by the dismissed lecturer.
The Eagle Online can authoritatively report that Adinoyi’s dismissal was approved during the University Council’s 131st meeting.
The case, it was gathered, was hurriedly handled as most staff in the University were unaware of anything of such nature.
Most of the department, especially the Information Department, only got the dismissal notice and did not know when the case began.
The Council has also approved the withdrawal of 13 students for poor academic performance.
All the affected students, except one who is doing Postgraduate Diploma, others are Masters’ students.
Findings have it that six of the students are from the Department of Biochemistry, three from the Department of Mathematics, two from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and one from the Department of Computer Science.
