Education is recognised internationally as fundamentally important in addressing critical global human challenges.
This informs the fourth edition in series of Sustainable Conversations, a Thought Leadership series facilitated by ThistlePraxis Consulting Limited, a Strategy and Assessments firm, to evaluate and mainstream the discourse on Sustainable Development in Nigeria and Africa.
This discussion platform will bring together experts in the education sector to engage in frank, productive and solution-oriented conversations on the theme: “Education: Building Viable Frameworks for Sustainability.”
Economies across Africa recorded weak investment in education in the 1980s and this negatively impacted on the quality of education and the infrastructure needed to sustain knowledge, a statement by Thistle Praxis Consulting Limited said on Tuesday.
Reversing this trend and investing in Africa’s people point to a central nexus: redevelopment in Africa’s higher education sector, the statement added.
It said further: “If Nigeria must move away from the current situation, the private sector must support through the funding of intellectual research and inventions, and be a source for collaboration and sustainable partnerships.”
The fourth edition in the series for Sustainable Conversations will feature Prof. P. A. I. Obanya as Lead Discussant.
Obanya has over four decades of experience across the education sector and is a renowned international education strategist.
He has authored over 267 publications focused on several aspects of Education.
The event will also have Dr. Modupe Olateju, the CEO of The Education Partnership Centre, as moderator.
Discussants include: Chrystina Russell, Chief Academic Officer, Kepler; Prof. Ngozi Osarenren, Professor of Counselling and Psychology, University of Lagos; and Misan Rewane, the Chief Executive, West Africa Vocational Education.
Editions of Sustainable Conversations culminate in the publishing of white papers, which are forwarded to relevant organizations, agencies of government and other stakeholders.
Participants will reflect a select list of CEOs, captains of Industry, sector professionals and experts, non-profit institutions as well as the academia.
Scheduled to hold on February 8, 2014 in Lagos, the TEP Centre, Etisalat CSR Centre, Lagos Business School and Etisalat Nigeria are partners to ThistlePraxis Consulting, trademark owners of Sustainable Conversations.
