The President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, on Tuesday backtracked on his position that President Muhammadu Buhari has submitted the Fiscal Strategy Paper/medium Term Framework Expenditure to the Senate.
Rather, Lawan said the Senate is still waiting for the documents.
Lawan had last week said the Senate was in possession of the FSP/MTEF, promising that the lawmakers will look into it on resumption.
According to him: “I have been informed that the executive arm of government has sent the request for the MTEF to the Senate, and I’m sure that will be the first thing that would be looked into when we resume next week.
“We hope to take on the MTEF within the first legislative week.”
But Lawan at the resumption of the plenary on Tuesday after the annual recess, said the Senate is still waiting for the FSP/MTEF documents to Senate.
Lawan also said the Senate standing Committees will be inaugurated on Wednesday at the plenary session.
Our correspondent observed that the members of the various standing committees are not yet known to the public.
