Late police officer and Nigeria’s Olympic medalist, Sunday Bada, was on Wednesday awarded a cash gift of N5 million for his exploits in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
This came after the International Olympics Committee upgraded Nigeria’s silver medal in the games to gold in the 4×400 men’s relay.
The men’s relay team from the United States of America, which was initially declared the winner, was disqualified over drug abuse.
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who announced the cash reward on Wednesday at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday, said the other members of the relay team would also receive N5 million while their coaches would be given N7 million.
