The remains of Caroline Onoh, the wife of a former Governor of old Anambra State, Christian, was interred at Ngwo in Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State amidst tributes.
The deceased was buried after a requiem mass held at the Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu.
In a homily, Rev. Fr. Nnamdi Nwankwo, the Principal of the College of Immaculate Conception, Enugu, described the deceased as a devout Christian who devoted her life to the welfare of others.
Nwankwo also described her as “humane” and “a pillar” to the successes recorded by her late husband, who was popularly known as C.C. Onoh.
Also speaking, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State said the deceased was “a woman of great character” who inspired many through her good virtues and simplicity.
“We take solace in the worthy legacies left by her and we will remain eternally grateful to God for the gift of our late mother,” Ugwuanyi said.
The deceased, the mother of Bianca Ojukwu, a former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, died on June 17 at 81.
Among the dignitaries that attended the burial were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Geofrey Onyeama; the Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu; and Governor Willie Obiano of Anamabra State.
Others were the former Governors of Anambra and Ebonyi, Peter Obi and Chief Martin Elechi respectively, as well as stalwarts of the All Progressives Grand Alliance led by National Chairman, Dr. Ike Oye.
