The All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate for Plateau State, Hon. Simon Lalong, has congratulated the President-Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, and President Goodluck Jonathan for their conduct after the conclusion of the presidential election.
Lalong said this at a press conference held on Wednesday in Jos at the Press Centre of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
According to him: “I, the APC and my entire campaign organization congratulate the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, on his success at the polls.”
Lalong further registered their unreserved gratitude and profound appreciation to their teeming supporters “for consistently believing and looking up to us for hope”.
The APC gubernatorial hopeful also specifically saluted the magnanimity of Jonathan, who had exhibited “a rare sense of patriotism and statesmanship as he wasted no time in calling and congratulating the President elect on his victory at the polls”.
He added: “This indeed is an indication that the continuous unity of this country is not negotiable.”
Speaking on the usage of the card readers, Lalong stated that he strongly stands for the continuous usage of the card readers in the remaining elections.
He said: “Going by the conduct of the last elections, where there were some hitches, at which INEC has said it was only 0.2 per cent, yet it was very effective in the process.
“It has reduced rigging.”
Lalong said Governor Jonah Jang of the PDP did not win his senatorial election.
He said the APC will challenge the matter in the elections tribunal.
He said: “The man uses his power to manipulate his way to be declared as winner of the election.
“We will regain the stolen mandate.”
Lalong said the battle of the elections is far from being over.
He said there is great task ahead of them to dismantle the remaining threats posed by the few agents of impunity in the state.
He said if elected as governor, there will be free education in the state.
