The Lagos State police command says its Special Squad, Ikeja, has arrested three suspected armed robbers who snatched a Lexus car at gun point in Ikorodu area of Lagos on 11th July, 2021.
According to the statement by the command’s public relations officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the suspects went for the said operation in a Toyota Camry. After the robbery operation, they had an encounter with the men of the Police Mobile Force Squadron 63, Ikorodu, and were forced to abandon their two cars and fled.
Adejobi said the case was transferred to the Special Squad, Ikeja, for further investigation. The men of the Special Squad painstakingly went after the armed robbers and were able to arrest one Omoyemi Jimoh, 30, in Ikorodu on 23rd July, 2021.
The two other members of the gang, Ademola Michael, 31 and Olawale Adewale, 29, were arrested on 27th July, 2021 at different locations in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Items recovered from them include one locally made pistol, one expended cartridge, assorted charms other dangerous weapons, one Toyota Camry car with registration number KRD 417 GL and the snatched Lexus Car (registration number withheld).
In another development, operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS), on routine patrol and anti-traffic robbery surveillance, on Thursday July 29, 2021, along the Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, arrested two members of a notorious syndicate which specializes snatching mobile phones.
The two suspects, Abiodun Idowu, 40, and Adeleke Adekunle, 27, were arrested after dispossessing one Olakunle John, a youth corps member, of his phone.
The police PRO said efforts are on towards arresting their fleeing accomplices.
Items recovered from them include one Galaxy A20 model phone and two SIM cards belonging to the victim.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, has commended his men for the feat recorded and ordered that the suspects be moved to the Special Squad, Ikeja for discreet investigation.
He also commended the men of the Special Squad, Ikeja, for the arrest of the suspected armed robbers in Ikorodu and recovery of their weapons.
The police boss assured the good people of Lagos State of adequate security of lives and property and more secure public space in the state.
