The three senators representing both Lagos and Kwara States have thrown their weights behind their states nominees as ministers.
A former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, and the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, are the nominees of Lagos and Kwara States respectively as ministers.
The Senate on Monday confirmed that the senators from both states have all endorsed their nominees.
In a tweet on its Tweeter handle, the Senate said of Fashola’s endorsement: “All 3 Senators from Lagos @oluremitinubu @YAYIAdeola @SenGbengaAshafa few minutes ago endorsed @tundefashola for minister.”
In the case of Mohammed, the Senate tweeted: “#MinisterialScreening Alhaji #LaiMuhammed today received endorsement of all Senators from Kwara @bukolasaraki @rafiuibrahim #ShabaLafiagi.”
There had been fears that the senators from Lagos State would not endorse Fashola following perceived face-off between him and a former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This became more worrisome because Tinubu’s wife, Oluremi, is one of the three representatives of Lagos State in the Senate.
