The Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Education has announced that students seeking transfer into public secondary schools in the State for the 2017/2018 session will undergo a screening test to determine their suitability for enrollment in the class of their choice in State-owned Secondary Schools.
The Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mobola Babs-Akinyeye, while addressing newsmen in her office, revealed that the decentralisation of the application process was to make the process easier.
Babs-Akinyeye said application forms would be obtained and submitted to the Office of the Tutor- General/Permanent Secretary of the Education District in charge of the applicant’s proposed school after payment of a non-refundable fee of N2,000 at Skye Bank Plc, Alausa Secretariat Branch.
She gave the Skye Bank payment details as Account No: 4030010449; Agency Code: 4280000; and Revenue Code: 4020034, saying that payment for collection of application forms will commence on July 31, 2017, while submission closes on August 11, 2017.
According to her, all applicants seeking transfer into JSS 2 class are required to submit the third term promotion examination results of JSS 1 class, while those seeking transfer into SS 1 must attach their Basic Education Certificate Examination results accompanied with evidence of three years tax payment of their parent or guardian and the application form receipts.
Babs-Akinyeye disclosed further that Screening Tests will be conducted by the State Examinations Board in the Six Education Districts on August 16, 2017 and parents of successful applicants will be notified through text messages to the phone number specified in the application forms with effect from August 23, 2017.
She enjoined all applicants to note that opportunities do not exist for entrants seeking transfer into Model Colleges, Upgraded Schools, JSS 3 and SS 2 classes as well as inter-state transfers, while admission is subject to a vacancy in the proposed school.
She advised all applicants to make further inquiries and clarifications at the District Office of the school of their choice before paying for the transfer application forms.
