Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiola Alabi has urged owners of private health facilities to always prioritize safety of life, on admission of gunshot victims.

Alabi made the appeal at the graduation ceremony of human rights Police Officers, in Ikeja, the State capital.

The Police boss said that doctors should ensure that the saving of the life is their first priority before reporting to the police

“ Gun shot victims should be treated and after treatment, the hospital or doctor should inform the authorities immediately.

“The medical practitioners should not operate on ignorance because they have the ethical right to save lives first before they report to the police”, Alabi stressed.

No fewer than 100 human right police officers graduated at the 41 graduation event.

CP Alabi who was present to witness the graduation said that the officers needed to prioritize and promote human right as it is the job of the police officers

While making his remark , he said that policing is everyone’s business, although the graduating officers are entrusted to ensure that their best is being put to work as any deficiency would reflect greatly on their productivity

“The graduands are here by entrusted with power in order for them to enhance their capacity and efficiency, that is the reason why you have gone through this training to equip you of the proper criteria

“The men of the uniform are hereby prepared for the upcoming election as we have had meetings with critical political stakeholders to ensure they play the game by the book to ensure the safety of life and prosperities

“We have the certificate mandate to perform in curbing anti-election process like thuggery and we are ensured to maintain peace and enforce all the laws”.

The event was hosted by Okechukwu Nwanguma, Coordinator of the Lagos State Stakeholder Forum on police accountability in partnership with Gloria Egbuyi, the Executive Director crime victims foundation and the Lagos state Police Command

Other dignitaries includes the likes of Hon. Prince Adebayo Balogun, Director of citizens right and justice , Titilayo Akindunsi , civil right activist , Bar. Olasuko Ojo
