Lagos CP confirms arrest of 34 Peace Corps Officers, for arraignment
They would be charged to Oshodi Mobile Court on Saturday (today) by 9am
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, has ordered the arrest of 34 persons posing as members of National Peace Corps in Ikorodu area of the state.
The suspects have been transferred to SCIID, Panti, Yaba.
They would be charged to Oshodi Mobile Court on Saturday (today) by 9am.
Imohimi explained that the said group does not have any official correspondence confirming it as a constitutionally approved security agency.
He noted that operatives of the Command would not tolerate such activities by any group to carry out functions or meetings in any part of Lagos State in a bid to misguide members of the public.
The CP has instructed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to arrest anyone seen in such uniform or insignia parading themselves as officials of Peace Corps or holding clandestine meetings and charge them to court.
He has therefore urged residents to be vigilant at all times and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
