President of Lagos Country Club, Tajudeen Akande, has vowed that the club will continue to be a pace-setter among other clubs in Nigeria and Africa.
He stated this while speaking ahead of the club’s 70th anniversary held in Ikeja and he asserted that the club will always improve on the already existing legacy of its previous leaders.
Akande said: “I am happy to report that we have made significant progress since May 2017. We have upgraded the club’s main entrance, the Squash Section, the Table Tennis Section and the Tennis Section all wearing new look, with state-of-the-art facilities. Work is in progress on the Swimming Pool. The Children Galleria/Playground has been upgraded.
“In terms of discipline and conduct, these have been significant improvements. Service delivery is surely improving gradually with the coming on board of a new Food & Bar Manager to support the new General Manager, John Ekpah Akogu.
John Ekpah Akogu resumed office September 3, 2018 and he has spent over 21 years in the hospitality industry.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the Planning Committee, Babatunde Okunuga, who was also a former president of the club, stressed that everyone will enjoy the programme since the anniversary is tagged: “Something for everybody”, and he further disclosed that there will be a children’s day event, worker’s day event, wellness day event, sports week, elders’ day as well as an interdenominational service and a Jumat prayer day.
Okonuga also stated that there will be an anniversary lecture which will hold on July 30 and will feature a speaker from the presidency and there will be a grand ball which is fixed for August 3, 2018.
