Organised labour is to address the nation today at 1pm via a press conference.
The press conference will state in clear terms labour’s reaction to the speech of the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, on the issue of the pricing of petrol.
According to feelers from labour, the issues to be addressed will include the offer of N97 for a litre of fuel, the allegation by the President that some other forces have hijacked the protest, the plea to call off the strike and the deployment of the military for the maintenance of security.
Sources told The Eagle Online that soldiers have been deployed in so many parts of Lagos.
Efforts are being made now by our reporters to bring you on the spot reports and photographs of the streets of Lagos and Abuja.

Meanwhile, the Presidency, it was learnt, is making efforts to curb the reportage of the ongoing protests by the media, especially reportage of happening within the government.
A source in the Villa told The Eagle Online that the first step to “deal with the recalcitrant section of the media, especially the online news blogs and sites, is to stop making available to them the statements, speeches and photographs of the activities of government officials, most especially that of the President.”
Most of the Online news sites complained this morning of having been denied access to the speech delivered by the President this morning.
It was learnt that it was made selectively available at about 1am to some media houses.
A senior editor of one of the news blogs told The Eagle Online that this is not good for the Presidency as it should listen to the opinion of others outside the vociferous ones in government.
