Rhoda Ajiboye, the Permanent Secretary of the Kwara State Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, on Monday announced the indefinite suspension of Coach Tunde Abdulrahman of Kwara United FC of Ilorin.
Ajiboye, after a brief meeting with the club’s management team and technical crew in Ilorin, announced the suspension of Abdulrahman.
“The suspension is indefinite and Tunde Sanni will now take over the affairs of the team,” she said.
The permanent secretary said the suspension became necessary in view of the present poor run of the club in the ongoing Glo Premier League.
She disclosed also that other coaches in the team have been placed on half salaries.
Ajiboye then charged the club management to rise to the occasion as no act of negligence would be entertained from it henceforth.
She, however, pledged the state government’s resolve to reinforce necessary areas in the team during the next transfer window.
“I urge the players to give their best, as government is working round the clock to ensure they don’t lack anything towards ensuring a successful league season,” the permanent secretary said.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the club had on Sunday recorded its second consecutive home loss of the season after losing 0-1 to Sharks FC of Port Harcourt.
The match was a Week 17 match in the 20-club league competition.
The club also lost to Enyimba International FC of Aba 2-3 in week 15 of the 2014/2015 league.
