The Kwara State Government has offered automatic employment to Bilikis Sanni, the wife of the late Bureau Chief of ThisDay in Ibadan, Oyo State, Alhaji Tunde Sanni.
Alhaji Saka Babatunde, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Empowerment, made this known on Sunday while speaking with newsmen in llorin.
Babatunde said that government took the decision in order to ameliorate the loss suffered by the wife and children of the late journalist.
The governor’s aide said that though the late journalist hailed from Ogun State, his wife and children were resident in Ilorin.
Babatunde said the letter of employment had been handed over to the widow, adding that she assumed duty on Friday.
The journalist’s wife, who has a Nigeria Certificate in Education certificate, was posted to Ilorin South Local Government Education Authority
The late Sanni had served as correspondent of the defunct Daily Sketch, The Punch, Post Express and ThisDay in Kwara State before his transfer to Ibadan.
He was a one time Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria in Kwara State as well as Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
Sanni died in November, 2013 after a brief illness.
