The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, has expressed gratitude to the people of Oke Ero Local Government Area and the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, for the success of the All Progressives Congress in Saturday’s House of Assembly bye-election in the area.
Ibrahim, who represents Kwara South Senatorial District in the Senate, said the election result in which the APC candidate, Victoria Afolayan, recorded overwhelming victory, was another expression of support and loyalty of the people to Saraki, the state’s political leader.
While thanking Saraki for providing solid and enduring leadership for the people across the State, a similar performance he said the Senate president was re-enacting in Abuja, Ibrahim added that the people of Oke Ero cast their votes for the party that stands for development, peace and security.
He said: “The election result further confirmed that Kwara APC under the leadership of Dr. Saraki remains the party to beat and the Saraki political family remains unshakeable contrary to insinuations from some quarters in and outside the State.
“The symbolism of this election result is that beyond all the propaganda in the media and the schemes by some opponents, Kwara people remain united behind Saraki. It is worthy of note that since the APC formed the government at the federal level, our party has not recorded outstanding success in any of the rescheduled or bye-elections like we did last Saturday.
“I therefore congratulate Dr. Saraki, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, members of the state executive of the party, our new state legislator, Hon. Afolayan and the entire APC members across the country.”
