A calf injury to world heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, has resulted in his showdown with Tyson Fury on October 24 being put back to a later date.
Klitschko had been scheduled to face mandatory challenger Fury in Dusseldorf at the end of next month, but on Thursday, the Ukrainian injured a tendon in his calf, resulting in the bout being postponed.
German newspaper, BILD, quotes Klitschko’s manager, Bernd Bonte, as saying that a new date for the clash, which must take place due to Fury’s mandatory status, will be announced next week.
The match will still take place at the ESPIRIT Arena, which possesses a retractable roof allowing for the fight to be held during the winter.
