Killer policeman: Investigation on – Adamawa CP

The state Police Command on Thursday confirmed the arrest of the officer who was alleged to have shot seven farmers in Gombi Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Abdullahi Yarima, said investigation was ongoing over the alleged killing of farmers by a policeman.

Yarima, at a news conference in Yola on Friday, said as soon as the investigation was completed, the alleged killer would be charged to court.
He said: “On my assumption in office, I inherited a case of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide involving a senior police officer who allegedly perpetrated the unlawful killing of young persons at Gombi farm.
“The Gombi farm belongs to Sarkin Bakan Gombi.”
According to the CP, the officer and others involved have been arrested and detained.
“Investigation is ongoing and as soon as it is completed, they will be arraigned in court of law for possible prosecution,” Yarima added.
Similarly, he said another attack on Bang village in Numan area was reported on Friday.
He confirmed that the attack was carried out by suspected cattle rustlers.
He explained that the gunmen shot sporadically, forcing the villagers to flee into the bushes.
“The gunmen burnt down houses and made away with some cattle,” he said.
Yarima said efforts were being made to get the culprits arrested and to recover the cattle.
