Killer DPO still in detention – Police

The former Divisional Police Officer of Pen Cinema Police Station, Lagos, Femi Fabunmi, who killed Ademola Aderinto, who was playing football with some of his friends and also injured three others during the strike to protest the increase in cost of petrol in January this year is still in detention.
Fabunmi is still being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos.

These fact were disclosed by the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations, Lagos State Police Command, Tunde Sobulo, when he spoke with newsmen.
Sobulo said the matter has already been reported to the Police Service Commission that is empowered to decide on cases involving officers of the Nigeria Police.
He also said that Lagos and Edo States were before now the operational base of armed robbers in the South West part of the country.
Sobulo said that owing to this discovery, the officers and men of the Nigeria Police in Lagos State had to map out strategies to counter the robbers.
He said that the strategies put in place worked effectively, leading to the reduction in the cases of armed robbery.
Sobulo also denied reports that people were killed during the Lagos Island crises that lasted for more than four days.
He noted that the problem is between two factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, adding that one of the fictional leaders has already been arrested and charged to court.
Sobulo said: “Nobody was reported killed or injured at any police station. We are not spirits and cannot do anything unless we are aware. If you say anybody was killed, go and report it at a police station as a good citizen.”
