A gang of suspected kidnappers on Thursday escaped arrest after throwing large sums of money to a crowd and abandoning their car along Ajamugha Road in Warri, Delta State.

The police team had accosted the red coloured Vento Volkwagen car with registration number Delta UGH 519 MZ used by the kidnappers who ran into the crowd before the gang adopted the technique.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, at the command headquarters in Asaba however said the patrol team recovered the operational car.
Kalu said on searching it, two cut to size double-barrel guns, 31 live cartridges, 10 expended cartridges, vehicle plate numbers and a Nokia handset were recovered.

She said nemesis caught up with Oghale after his gang operated in Toyota Camry car, number UGH 550 AA along Warri-Sapele Road by AP Filling Station and engaged a patrol team in gun fire.
She listed their operational car, five guns of different models and one bank debit card, bearing Ogwa Gladdys, among the items recovered, even as she confirmed the arrest of five students of Delta State Polytechnics, Oghara, who were members of Supreme Vikings Confraternity.
