Super Eagles’ gaffer, Stephen Keshi, and his former national team
mates, Paul Okoku and Godwin Odiye, have donated a generating set to
their Alma Mata, St. Paul’s Catholic Primary School, Ebute Metta,
Lagos State.
Okoku, who disclosed this on Wednesday on behalf of Keshi and Odiye,
said the combined efforts was aimed at giving the pupils an
opportunity to achieve their academic goals without interruption.
His words: “Keshi and I had planned to officially present the
generator to the school on the 28th of December, 2012, before Nations
Cup commences but this did not come to fruition due to unforeseen
circumstances.
“Yet, and again, our attempt to present it right after AFCON was not
feasible for obvious reasons.
“We had hoped to invite both the Lagos State Commissioners of
Education and Sports.
“I am happy to inform you that we have delivered the generator worth
N350,000 as promised to the school through the headmistress, Mrs. G.O. Jalekun.
“We are committed to putting smiles on the students’ faces as we
gradually redeem all our pledges to the school in the coming months.
“We understand too well the essence of combining education and sports.
“We are not done yet because this is a journey for these young kids
that will culminate in to adulthood and we wish to create a lasting
memorable academic experience for them with a solid foundation.”
It will be recalled that Keshi and friends presented the school with
sets of computers last year.
