Nigeria’s manager, Stephen Keshi, has said he is waiting for a call from Ogenyi Onazi to confirm his fitness for the remaining matches of the Confederation Cup.
The player dropped out after pulling a injury in the World Cup qualifier against Namibia last week and had to return to Nigeria for treatment and consultation.
Keshi said that first thing he did on the team’s arrival at 2.03am on Sunday was to notify FIFA protocol officers of Onazi’s condition and for a possible replacement for him.
"I am waiting for his call to inform me on whether he can still come or opt for a replacement," Keshi expressed after the team’s only training session in Brazil ahead of the encounter with Tahiti.
He awaits the call from the SS Lazio midfielder and hoped Onazi would come.
