Manchester City has agreed to sign Austria Vienna striker Olarenwaju Kayode for £3.5 million, but will loan him immediately to FC Girona.
The 24-year-old Nigeria international had also been a target for Burnley and Newcastle United.
But they would have had to pay more to ensure he gained a work permit to play in England this season, as he just two caps to date.
Kayode scored 17 goals in 33 games last season for Vienna and 30 in 67 appearances over two seasons.
He will become City’s seventh signing of a summer that has seen Bernardo Silva, Ederson, Kyle Walker, Danilo, Benjamin Mendy and Douglas Luiz move to the Etihad Stadium for a combined total of almost £222 million.
