There are feelers that operatives of the Department of State Services have arrested a retired military officer for an attempt to create political crisis in the already volatile Kano State, PRNigeria has learnt.
The retired Captain of the Nigerian Army, whose name is yet to be released, claimed that he was conscripted by a former Commissioner of Water Resources in the State, Dr. Adanu Yunusa Dangwani, to make Kano State ungovernable after being allegedly paid a sum of N1.5 million as part payment.
PRNigeria gathered that the retired captain had been whisked away to Abuja for further interrogation, while the commissioner was allegedly intercepted at the airport on his way out of the country.
The former Commissioner who was also Chief of Staff to former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was in March 2016 arrested by the Police in Kano over alleged move to hold a mass political rally against the government of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, but was later released.
Attempt to reach officials of DSS in Kano and Abuja were not successful.
