Former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Dr. Orji Kalu, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the former governor of Sokoto State and member of the Senate, Aliyu Wamakko, over the demise of his daughter, Sadiya.
The former Sokoto State governor lost his daughter, Sadiya Magatakarda Wamakko, on Thursday.
Sadiya died at the age of 23 years.
She died at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, following complications arising from childbirth.
Lamenting the passing of the young lady, Kalu prayed to Allah to grant the Wamakko family the fortitude to bear the sad loss.
In his condolence message, the former governor said: “I was shocked and devastated when I received the sad news of the passing of Sadiya Wamakko, daughter of my colleague and friend, Senator Aliyu Wamakko.
“Sadiya died in her prime but who are we to question Allah?
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wamakko family during this period of grief”May Allah grant Sadiya Al Jannah Firdaus.”
Meanwhile, the late Sadiya was buried on Thursday night in Sokoto.
Her funeral prayer was conducted at the residence of Senator Wamakko on Sahabi Dange Road, Gawon Nama, Sokoto.
The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Juma’at Mosque, Sokoto, Liman Malami Shehu Akwara.
The funeral prayer was attended by Senator Wamakko; former Deputy Governor and National Commissioner, National Population Commission, Alhaji Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo; as well as another former Deputy Governor and Executive Secretary, Police Trust Fund , Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.
Other dignitaries who attended the funeral were Magajin Garin Sokoto and Magajin Rafin Sokoto, Alhaji Hassan Danbaba and Alhaji Rilwanu Bello respectively.
Wamakko is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence and Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Anti Corruption.
