Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Kalu, has described the death of Senator Uche Chukwumerije as a big loss to Abia State and the nation at large.
Senator Chukwumerije who was, until his death, the senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, died in Abuja on Sunday at 75.
According to Kalu, the late legislator contributed to social and political development of Nigeria, having served in different capacities and positions in the public sector.
In a condolence message signed by his Special Adviser, Kunle Oyewumi, Kalu said: “I was shocked to hear the news of the demise of Senator Chulwumerije. It is unfortunate that he passed away at this time when his wealth of wisdom and experience is needed in Abia State . Our hearts and thoughts are with the Chukwumerije family at this mournful period. It is my prayer that God will grant the deceased eternal rest.”
Kalu urged the family of the late legislator to take solace in the fact that the departed soul lived a fulfilled life.
The former governor, while commiserating with the government and people of Abia State, prayed to God to grant the deceased’s family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
