The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has denied comments that he was referring to the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, when he spoke of how to dislodge godfathers from politics in Lagos.
El-Rufa’i stated this when he addressed State House Correspondents after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday.
The governor had after delivering a lecture at the Bridge Club in Lagos said while answering a question on how to dislodge godfather in Lagos politics, that it was easy to achieve.
In answer to a question by a former National Legal Adviser of the APC, Muiz Banire (SAN), El-rufai said with preparation, cooperation of people and a sum of N2 billion, any godfather can be displaced.
With both El-Rufai and Banire at loggerheads with Tinubu, it was thus easy to conclude that the question as well as the answer were targeted at Tinubu.
But El-rufai on Monday dismissed the insinuation that he was referring to Tinubu.
He said that he was not in dispute with anyone as being insinuated.
The governor, however, said the template on retirement of godfathers in Kaduna could be applied anywhere in the country and “it will work”.
