There is a heavy presence of security personnel in Jos, the Plateau State capital, as a powerful explosion shook the city on Tuesday morning, sending shockwaves through surrounding communities.
According to eyewitnesses, the blast occurred around 10:30 am near the densely populated Terminus market area.
“I was nearby when I heard a loud bang. I saw people running and screaming. It was terrifying,” said an eyewitness.
As of press time, the extent of the damage, fatalities remains unclear, but witnesses described scenes of destruction and chaos.
Emergency services, including the police, fire department, and ambulance teams, have reportedly rushed to the scene to provide assistance.

Meanwhile, the Plateau State Police Command has yet to make a public statement on the incident.
Attempts to reach the Command’s spokesman, Alabo Alfred, were unsuccessful as his phone was switched off.
