The incumbent and Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, created an upset in Nasarawa State when he defeated the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, General Muhammadu Buhari, in Saturday’s presidential election.
Nasarawa State is being governed by an APC-led government under Governor Tanko Al-Makura..
Jonathan scored 273,460 votes to Buhari’s 236,838.
In the official figures for the election released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, Jonathan won in seven out of the 13 local government areas of the state.
He won in Obi, Keana, Nasarawa, Eggon, Kokona, Doma and Akwanga, while Buhari took Keffi, Wamba, Nasarawa, Toto, Awe and Lafia local government areas.
