The Journalists International Forum For Migration (JIFORM) on Friday unveiled a registration portal for its third global migration summit scheduled for Niagara Falls, Canada, between November 29 and December 6 this year.
A statement issued by the president of JIFORM, which comprises over 300 journalists covering migration across the continents headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, Ajibola Abayomi, directed interested applicants to log on to www. jiformalert.org to register for the event.
Invited speakers for the conference include former president of Malawi, Dr Joyce Banda; former Canada Secretary of State and Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, Honourable Gerry Weiner; Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Nigeria; Professor Patrick Lumumba from Kenya and the Global Director, Diaspora Innovation Institute, City University, New York City, USA Professor Byron Price.
Others are: member African Union Labour Migration Advisory Committee, Dr Princess Kabuki Ocansey from Ghana; chairman Nigeria’s House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Matters, Hon Tolulope Akande-Sadipe; Williams Goiz, Regional Director, Malaysia Migration Forum; Ms Johanna Mac from Eric Broost Institute, Dortmund University, Germany.
Some of the participating agencies are International Organization for Migration (IOM), Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration and Asian- Pacific Institute of Broadcasting Development (AIBD) Malaysia and others.
The 2021 migration summit’s theme, to be x-rayed by Professor Price, is ‘Exploring the Benefits of Migration Post-COVID-19 Era to Retool Global’ and is being powered by the JIFORM in partnership with the ALTEC Global Inc, Toronto, Canada.
Other facilitators are Home for the Needy, Edo State, Nigeria; Global Cynergies LLC Toronto, Canada, and the Diaspora Innovation Institute, Federal University of Technology, Akure Ondo State, Nigeria.
