Former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong, has said Governor Jonah David Jang of Plateau State will be leaving a N52 billion debt for his successor.
Lalong gave said this on Friday at the commissioning ceremony his campaign office.
Lalong, the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress, described the office as a “unity house” for the people of Plateau State.
He said the commissioning of the edifice formally heralded the movement for full campaign next week to challenge the Peoples Democratic Party in the forthcoming general elections.
According him, the government of Jang has reduced the state to a total decay.
He said the education and economic sectors have completely collapsed, adding that the government had also instilled nepotism and hatred among the people.
He said: “We are threatened by insecurity in the state.
“He has left N52 billion as debt for the state and is hell bent at installing his cousin as the next governor as if democracy has become government of the father, the son and the mother through cousin.”
Lalong assured the people of the state that if he emerges the governor of the state, “there will be no more fighting on the basis of religion and tribes.”
He said his government will introduce policies that will that will better the living standard of the people of the state.”
Earlier, the Director General of the Lalong campaign organisation, Rufus Bature, hinted that all the 11 aspirants that were raped out of the PDP primaries have fused together to fight and install justice and an all inclusive government in the state.
Bature said the structure of the campaign team is made up of all the tribes on the Plateau.
Lalong’s running mate, Prof. Sonny Tyoden, in his remarks, said he has left PDP because of injustice and nepotism and with the desire to instill fairness and equity and correct some abnormalities.
