A former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has criticised a former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, for abandoning the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the February 23, 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar, after the loss of the election.
Daniel, who served as the Director General of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation, had on Saturday announced his decision to quit the PDP and active politics in a letter to the National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus.
A day after, he said he had been asked by his supporters during a meeting at his residence in Sagamu, Ogun State to lead them to the All Progressives Congress.
Commenting on the development on his Twitter handle on Monday, Fani-Kayode, the spokesman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation for the 2015 elections, said it was unthinkable that Daniel, who had been tipped to emerge as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in the case of Abubakar winning the election, could dump the party for President Muhammadu Buhari after the poll was rigged.
He tweeted: “For the 1st DG of @atiku’s PCO and his closest confidante in SW to dump @OfficialPDPNig and join @OfficialAPCNg before the conclusion of Atiku’s election petition is sad. For a man that was gunning to be SGF in an Atiku govt. to join Buhari after Atiku was rigged out is tragic!”
