The Director General of the Industrial Training Fund, Juliet Chukkas-Onaeko has said the Fund has spread partnership to donor agencies and other organizations as a deliberate policy to deliver its mandate and reposition the economy of the country.
Chukkas-Onaeko disclosed this on Friday during an interactive session with journalists in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
She said already an MoU has been entered into by the Dangote Groups of Company where over 4,000 youth have been trained in various skills acquisitions.
She also said the Fund was worried by the spate of building collapses in Nigeria.
Owing to this, the Fund has signed an MoU with the Nigeria Institute of Building to fight the menace by training experts in the area.
Chukkas-Onaeko expressed concern over the increasing number of unemployed youths in the country, stressing that attention is being shifted to the 36 states where area offices would be spread to IDPs to touch their lives positively.
She commended the media for contributing positively to the policy direction for the development of Nigeria, adding: “We don’t want people coming to distract us any more.”
She explained further that President Muhammadu Buhari has keyed into the youth empowerment to help reduce the rate of youth unemployment in the country by embarking on wholistic reports toward improving the power sector, manpower and infrastructural development.
She pointed out that their programmes help to better enlighten and create quick jobs for school leavers through a national skills submit for close policy to ensure that Nigeria succeeds in the area of internal reforms.
She also promised to package free training for Nigerian youths who want to avail themselves of the ITF offer to transform their heart to be responsible citizens.
She promised to take the training to all IDP camps across the country.
