Iran is plotting to record upsets at the ongoing World Cup in Brazil and the Asian country has vowed to start with the Super Eagles on Monday in Curitiba.
After their last training session at the Corinthians FC Stadium in Sao Paulo on Saturday, Coach Carlos Quiroz said the world would soon know about the football prowess of Iran after the World Cup.
Quiroz said the team was battle ready for the challenges in the preliminary stage of the Mundial and he was optimistic that his boys would shock the world.
He said: “Many people believe Iran is not a football nation but we have to change that here in Brazil with our performance.
“We have the ability to play good football and compete at the highest level.
“That is why we are at the World Cup and people should respect that.
“I expect teams in our group to underrate us but there is no problem about that.
“I am sure we are going to give a good account of ourselves in this competition by coming out well in all the games.”
The coach however said he would not promise qualification ticket but was sure the team would compete keenly for it.
“I have respect for all the teams in our group but I believe apart from Argentina, Iran has equal chances of qualifying with the other two – Nigeria and Bosnia-Herzegovina,” Quiroz said.
