The Chief of Communication of UNICEF, Eliana Drakopoulos, has enjoined the federal government to invest in policies affecting children.
Drakopoulos stated this on Monday in Port Harcourt where she stated that Nigeria is a little bit behind in meeting with the SDGs goals stressing that out of the 198 million of the population, there are 93 million children, 10. 5 million are out of schools and one million children die every year due to lack of water, sanitation and hygiene.
Also, the regional Communication Advisor, WCARO UNICEF, Thiery Delvigne-Jean, also stated that by 2100, half of the world’s children will be in Africa due to the increase of population and it will be problematic if population increases and without the necessary increase in social infrastructure.
The Eagle Online reports that the programme is a two-day media dialogue on European Union and Niger Delta Water Project organized by the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture in conjunction with UNICEF.
