No fewer than 2,000 civilians have died since Russia invaded Ukraine over a week ago.
The Ukrainian state emergency service confirmed this Wednesday.
The service posted on Facebook that 10 emergency responders were among the dead.
The UN had previously been quoted to have confirmed 142 civilian deaths.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a long-feared invasion of Ukraine on Thursday.
Since then, over 400 fires caused by enemy fire have been extinguished, according to the statement.
The emergency service also said that 500 people have been brought to safety.
