Ahead of Wednesday’s international friendly match between the Uganda Cranes and the Nigeria’s Super Eagles, eight locally based players have trained at the KCCA Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday.
The players who have trained under Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sedrojevic and his assistants, Fred Kajoba and Kefa Kisala, had a brief one and a half hour session.
The final team will be named on Sunday.
The eight players who trained on Saturday were Ismail Watenga, Ibrahim Kiyemba, Joseph Nsubuga, Robert Sentongo, Faruku Miya, Kezironi Kizito, Shafiki Bakaki and Chrizestom Ntambi.
Derrick Tekkwo, who had been earlier summoned, could not make the team because he traveled with the national beach soccer team, The Uganda Sand Cranes, who have an away engagement in Ghana on Sunday.
The team departs on Sunday evening aboard Ethiopian Airlines.
The invited players are Onyango Denis (Mamelodi Sundowns-South Africa), Odonkara Robert (St. George FC-Ethiopia), Jamal Salim (El Merreikh-Sudan), Watenga Isma (Vipers FC-Uganda), Isinde Isaac (St. George-Ethiopia), Jjuko Murushid (Simba SC-Tanzania), Kassaga Richard (Salam Zgharta-Lebanon), Nsubuga Joseph (Bright Stars –Uganda), Kiyemba Ibrahim (Lweza FC-Uganda), Bakaki Shafiq (Express FC-Uganda), Kakuba Alex (Estoril Praia-Portugal), Walusimbi Godfrey (Gor Mahia-Kenya), Iguma Denis (Al Ahed- Lebanon) and Aucho Khalid (Gor Mahia-Kenya).
Others are Kizito Keziron (Vipers FC-Uganda), Tekwo Derrick (Kira Young), Azira Mike (Seattle Sounders-US), Chrizestom Ntambi (SC Villa-Uganda), Majwega Brian (Azam FC- Tanzania), Luwagga William Kizito (Sporting Covilha –Portugal), Miya Farouk (Vipers FC- Uganda), Massa Geoffrey (Pretoria University-South Africa), Umony Brian (Saint George FC-Ethiopia), Ssentongo Robert (URA FC-Uganda) and Edema Patrick (Beira Mar-Portugal).
