African champions, the Super Falcons, will on Monday battle their Canadian counterparts in a friendly at the Pinatar Stadium in Murcia, Spain.
The tie is one of the test matches lined up for the Thomas Dennerby girls ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup billed for France in June.
“We have been looking for a strong African opponent ever since we drew Cameroon in the group stage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup,” said Kenneth Heiner-Møller, Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team Head Coach. “This is a great opportunity for us to better understand the style and how to play around it.”
Nigeria will launch their FIFA Women’s World Cup campaign against Norway on Saturday 8 June. Nigeria will then lock horns with Korea Republic in their second group match on Wednesday 12 June and the final group game against hosts France on June 17.
Nigeria are 11-time African champions and have qualified for all eight editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
