The Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday said it has put a stop to its preparation for the bye-election into the Adamawa State governor’s office.
INEC, in a statement on Wednesday, said this was sequel to a court order directing it to so do.
The statement, signed by the Commission’s Acting Secretary, H. Adamu, said sequel to the order, preparations for the election, scheduled for October 11, has been put on hold.
Justice Adeniyi Ademola of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had on Wednesday ordered that a former Deputy Governor of the state, Bala Ngilari, be sworn in immediately as the governor of the state.
The swearing in has since been performed.
