The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the governorship election in Taraba State inconclusive.
INEC said there would be a supplementary election within 30 days.
INEC took the position on Monday following the discovery that the total number of votes rejected and cancelled were more than the total votes with which the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Darius Ishaku, led the runner-up and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Hajia Aisha Alhassan.
The INEC Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Muhammad Kariey, made the announcement.
Kariey said the difference between the PDP and the APC was 54,881 votes, while the rejected votes from some troubled areas were over 100,000.
While Ishaku scored 317,198 votes, Alhassan, popularly known as Mama Taraba, polled 262,386.
Violence has hallmarked the election, with a Returning Officer in one of the local governments reported to have been attacked by armed men and the election materials taken away.
