The Independent National Electoral Commission says it has cleared 42 candidates for the forthcoming governorship polls in Kogi and Bayelsa States.
The Kogi State election is billed for November 21, while the Bayelsa State poll comes up on December 5.
The commission’s bulletin issued on Monday in Abuja stated that the list of cleared candidates were published by INEC and signed by Farouk Usman, the commission’s Acting Secretary.
According to the bulletin, 22 candidates with their running mate from 22 registered political parties would contest the poll in Kogi State.
Twenty candidates with their running mate from 20 registered political parties were cleared to contest the Bayelsa State poll.
Abubakar Audu and his running mate, James Faleke, are the flagbears of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State, while Captain Idris Wada and his running mate, Abayomi Awoniyi, would fly the Peoples Democratic Party flag.
According to the bulletin, incumbent Governor Seriake Dickson of the PDP and his running mate, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha Jonah (rtd), were cleared for the Bayelsa State election.
Former governor Timipre Sylva and his running mate, Wilberforce Igiri, would fly the APC flag.
