The management of the opposition New Nigeria People’s Party has set in motion the process of probing the activities of some members of executive committees of the party in five states who have been accused of engaging in various offences.
A statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Ladipo Johnson, revealed this development on Tuesday.
The statement said the decision is sequel to recent dissolution of the chapters of the party in Taraba, Benue, Oyo, Bauchi and Gombe States.
The affected committee had been dissolved in the first week of September with the leadership of the NNPP citing the need to reposition the party amongst other things as the reason for doing so.
Johnson in the statement added the decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the National Working Committee held in Abuja on Tuesday.

“The decision to probe some of the erstwhile executive committee members and some other members of the party was a normal step in a dynamic political party that is poised to make necessary changes for development and achievement of goals,” Johnson wrote.
According to the statement, the chieftains suspended for three months include Ayobami Idowu Adekunle, Alhaji Rasheed Adebisi Olopoeniyan, Demola Oke, Kilamuwaiye Badmus, Oyesola Ololade, Olayiwola Musibau, Tunde Adedapo, and Riike Olanira.
Citing the breach of the party’s constitution, Johnson added: “The issues (for their suspension) are generally tied to offences against the party and anti-party activities.
“Of course, no serious leadership would condone such an attitude as alleged to have been perpetrated by these suspended members of the party.
“All those affected have been informed of the decision and will be expected to appear before the party’s National Disciplinary Committee.”
