A lawmaker in the Ebonyi House of Assembly, Victor Aleke, has expressed confidence that the Police will find the suspected killers of his brother, Samuel, and bring them to justice.
Aleke, who represents Ebonyi North-West in the Assembly, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Abakaliki.
The deceased, in his late 30s, was reported to have left his house on May 23, after informing his wife that he was going to collect an earpiece from a friend.
He was, however, later found dead in his car trunk on Nkwegu axis of the Abakaliki-Afikpo Expressway.
Loveth Odah, Public Relations Officer, Ebonyi State Police Command, confirmed the incident in a statement.
Odah said that his corpse was recovered by the police on Nkwegu axis of the expressway.
She said investigation into the incident had begun and assured that the suspected killers would be unmasked and brought to justice.
The lawmaker said the deceased was his younger brother and described his killing as “wicked, barbaric and painful”.
According to Aleke: “The deceased is my only male sibling.
“He was a quiet, gentle and a peaceful man.
“There was no time it was reported that he had problem with anybody.”
Aleke wondered why he was abducted and killed.
He said: “My slain brother was my only brother.
“See how wicked people just killed him for no cause.
“It is painful and hard to believe that his family, friends and loved ones will see him no more.”
The Assemblyman also described his late brother as a very peaceful, quiet and easy going young man.
“I have never known him to have problems with people or authorities, he was killed in cold blood,” Aleke said.
