Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) state congresses and national convention, a prominent member of the party, Cyprian Ashibuogwu, has pledged to facilitate an enduring unity within the party, if chosen as chairman of the party in Delta State.
Ashibuogwu made the pledge during an enlarged breakfast assembly of the Aniocha North chapter of the party held at Issele-Uku.
“As a high-stake formation partner in the party, I have been a steadfast advocate of unity as a prime tool in attaining set out goals of the APC, prominent amongst which is providing the populace positively impacting governance in Nigeria largely and Delta State in particular,” he said.
He noted that the APC in Delta State is endowed with sterling human and related attributes, to record and harvest abundant electoral successes, but that the birth of “tendencies” in the state APC family has continually prevented it from accomplishing its full electoral potential in the state.
“It is, therefore, imperative to have a leadership that will erase the existence of ‘tendencies’,” he said, adding that if given the headship of the party in the state, he will usher in an all-inclusive approach to leadership that will give the sense of belonging and equity to all card-carrying as well as prospective members of the party.
In his introductory speech, another foundation member of the party, Ogwugwuam Ezeagwu, described the aspirant as a man with insightful vision, whose antecedents stand him in good stead to administer the party to high-volume status in the state.
He said that “the aspirant has all essential qualities to fulfill his promises, considering his cosmopolitan relationship with leaders and members which cuts across all three senatorial districts within the state.”
In a motion moved by Ogbuefi Ben Anazia and presided over by Sir (Dr) Vincent Ugbelase, the gathering, through undivided voice votes, accepted and applauded Ashibuogwu’s aspiration and urged all progressively inclined members to see the project (his emergence as chairman) to fruition.
