Lagos-based human rights lawyer, Chief Giwa Amu, has petitioned the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, and the Lagos State Chairman on Environment and Special Offences Unit to check the incessant land dispute in Ikorodu area of Lagos State as the usual fracas in the area where land grabbers engage one another with dangerous weapons has rendered innocent citizens of the state homeless.
Amu representing Igbokuta vIllage and the Ajala Family in Ikorodu, urged Fashola to intervene and arrest some alleged land grabbers.
The petition, dated November 21, 2012, flayed the recent attacks allegedly masterminded by one Kamarudeen Lamina, also known as Sir K, with his hoodlums who attacked residents of the village with dangerous weapons.
The petition reads: “We act as Solicitors to Igbokuta Community particularly the Bello Ajala Family of Igbokuta, via Ikorodu, Lagos State (hereinafter referred to as “Our Clients”) on whose direct instructions we write.
“We have our client instructions to make complaint as follows:
“That on the 20th November, 2012 the above mentioned suspect to wit; KAMORUDEEN LAMINA (a.k.a Sir K) also known as “Ajagungbale” invaded Igbokuta community with his heavily armed thugs, hoodlums and dare devil miscreants with a view to forcefully, illegally take over the community land and particularly the land the Lagos State Government had already earmarked for Agricultural purposes.
“That it must be stated that the members of the said community and their youths were able to repel the attack of the suspect above mentioned and his thugs.
“That the suspect has openly boasted that he would use every forceful means at his disposal to take over our clients’ community land, hinging his reasons on the connection he claim he has with the government circle.
“That it is the plea of our Clients that inasmuch as they do not want to take law into their hands, they would not fold their arms and watch the suspect take over their community land, particularly the land the Lagos State Government has earmarked for agricultural purposes that would create employment for their youths.
“That it is on record that the said suspect is one of the four persons to wit: KAMORU LAMINA (A.K.A SIR K OLOWOBABA), SEGUN ADEBAYO, WALE IKUNJIMI AND WAHEED KASALI, wanted by the Police for murder perpetrated by them while attempting to forcefully take over a family land at Ologbun village, Shimawa near Ogijo, Ogun State. Find attached herewith as “Annexure A” is a Special Police Gazette Bulletin with reference No: CB: 2685/FHQ/ABJ/09/05/11 to that effect.
“That the said Segun Adebayo, Wale Ikunjimi and Waheed Kasali, are all thugs of Kamoru Lamina. They were arrested at Ologbun village, Shimawa near Ogijo, Ogun State over the murder of Akeem Odegbaro, Fatai Adeleye and Adebisi Adelaja.
“That the police from Ogijo Police Station upon visit to the scene recovered the dead body of Akeem Odegbaro but the other dead bodies could not be recovered till date. That the police also recovered from Sir K’s hoodlums the following items: (a) One blood stained axe (b) twelve expended cartridges (c) bones of skull and brain smear.
“That the said Sir K’s thugs violently attacked the police from Ogijo Police Station who visited the scene and fired gun shots at one Mr. Kuti Taiwo. The said Taiwo is receiving treatment at Owokoniran Hospital in Shagamu.
“That the said Segun Adebayo, Wale Ikunjimi and Waheed Kasali, were arrested and charged to court for the offences of Murder, Unlawful possession of firearms, Malicious Damage and Armed Robbery. They are presently in Isale Oko Prison yard, Sagamu, Ogun State.
“That the suspect above mentioned has further boasted that the arms and ammunitions at his disposal are superior to the arms and ammunitions in government possession.
“That the suspect vowed he would storm our Clients community to forcefully take over possession of their land.
“That the acts and conducts of the suspect if not timely checked is capable of destroying the peace and tranquility our Clients community is presently enjoying.
“Sir, it is our Clients plea to your Excellency to intervene in this matter with a view to saving them from the terror attacks of the suspect and his thugs, hoodlums and dare devil miscreants.
“We await your quick response, please.”
