Odion Ighalo heaped praise on teammate, Adlene Guedioura, for the outstanding pass which set up the Nigerian’s equaliser in a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Derby.
Forced to play with 10 men for more than 45 minutes after Marco Motta’s dismissal, Watford put in a superb second-half performance to peg the Rams back from their 2-1 lead.
Ighalo was the man with the Hornets’ second goal after Matej Vydra bagged the opener.
“It was a great pass from Adlene. It was a Premier League pass,” said Ighalo, speaking to Hornets Player.
“I saw him get the ball and I was just making the run. I wasn’t sure if he would get me, but he saw me and played it at once. It was a very good pass and I was calm there to score that goal.
“You can’t lose opportunities like that when you’re playing against a good side like this, you’re one man down and you’re losing. Every opportunity you have, you have to take it.
“I’m very happy I scored the goal, and it was a great pass. It’s a good game for us. We have to think about the game on Monday and work hard for a great game.”
Attention immediately turns to the Easter Monday clash with new league leaders, Middlesbrough, and Ighalo called on Watford’s supporters to create a special atmosphere at The Vic.
“We have six finals to go. Middlesbrough are top of the league and we have to work hard on Monday to win, because it’s not going to be easy,” he said.
“The way we played today, all working for each other and with a good fighting spirit, I think we have every opportunity to win this game.
“I just call on the fans, they have been amazing throughout the season. We want them to come out in numbers on Monday to cheer us on and make sure we’re going to win that game.
“We want to thank them for today, you could see them in numbers again cheering us from start to finish this evening. They are amazing, so we want them to come out to cheer us on to victory on Monday.”
