Odion Ighalo is desperate to make up for his FA Cup semi-final heartbreak with Watford in 2016.
Ighalo was crushed when Watford lost 2-1 to Crystal Palace, missing out on the chance to face Manchester United in the final.
Now the 31-year-old striker, on loan at United until January, has a chance to erase that disappointment by making the final with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
“It was a difficult one to take against Crystal Palace,” said Ighalo ahead of Sunday’s semi-final against Chelsea.
“If we’d have won, we’d have played United in the final. Unfortunately, we lost.
“It was a bitter one to take but this is an opportunity again in an FA Cup semi-final to make it right and go forward to the final.
“To get to the final would be great for me in my life and my career.”
Ighalo, speaking to United’s official website, added: “Now I have the opportunity to get to the final with the club I’ve supported all my life.
“It would make my dreams perfect. It will be tough, but we have what it takes.”
United can still do a silverware double this season, with Solskjaer’s side in the last 16 of the Europa League as well as the FA Cup semis.
And club legend Bryan Robson said his former club must win a trophy to prove they are a major force once again.
The ex-United skipper said: “In my last couple of years at the club, when we won the first Premier League, then the double the next season, we’d look at each other and think ‘Nah, we’ll not get beat today’.
“That’s how you get that confidence and belief in each other to go on and win things.
“I think United are getting close to that, but what they have to do is win something to get that belief that they can really challenge Liverpool and Manchester City next season.”
