A former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, has donated items worth N500,000 to the Merciful Orphanage Home in Oghara, Ethiope-West Local Government Area of the state.
The items were conveyed through Chief William Makinde, a former National Treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party to the orphanage in Ibori’s country home in Oghara.
Ibori, who described the gesture as his contribution to the welfare of the orphans, said: “I decided to contribute to the welfare of the inmate of this orphanage home because they need our care and love during this period and always in order for them to be able to grow up and be responsible citizens of the society.
“I have continued to contribute my quota for the upkeep of this orphanage home. I will continue to put smiles on the faces of the children in orphanage homes anywhere I found
myself.”
Presenting the 50 pieces of clothing materials, 200 note books, 10 live chickens, bags
of rice, 20 litres galore of palm oil, 20 litre of vegetable oil, among other things, Makinde urged them to make good use of the items because “very soon, more we still come from the same source.”
While he urged members of the public to contribute their quota to the welfare of orphans as hallmark of charity, he pledged to floor the classroom buildings of the orphanage home with tiles.
The Manager of the orphanage, Madam Rose Etsemita, thanked the donor for his kind gesture despite his ordeal, praying for his quick discharge.
